  Art Jeanette Esquivel

I’m not an artist with a message.

I’m completely selfish with my art. Drawing is something that I do for me. If other people like it, that’s wonderful! It always makes me feel good to know someone else likes my work. I’ve developed a tough skin, tough, so if no one likes a piece, then, that’s OK too!

I haven’t had any formal training and I’ll be the first to admit, I need a lot of work in a lot of areas. Perhaps, one day, I’ll go back to school, but Right now, I’m happy with learning on my own.

Someone once asked me which I preferred, digital or traditional mediums. This is a question, I still can’t give a straight answer to. As you can see from my portfolio, I have a good mixture of both.

I haven’t explored too much with traditional as of yet. I work mainly in pencil form: Pastel, charcoal, colored, watercolor and plain graphite.

I like the control of the pencil. A wacom (for me) just doesn’t "FEEL" the same, so, I don’t have the same control.

I love digital because of the lack of control I need. There isn’t any worry about making a bad line. With a click of a button, POOF, it’s undone!

I hope to soon branch out into paints. :) OOOO and PLASTER!! HA HA I’d like to work with a wheel but I can’t afford either the kiln or the wheel! :)

Soon.
