The Endangered Cheetah
In 1900 the Cheetahs numbers were estimated to be over one-hundred-thousand troughout Africa and Asia.
Today, the Cheetah is extinct from over twenty countries.
The twelve to fifteen thousand of the species that remain are found in small pocketed populations, with the majority being spread out in countries in Africa and totaling less than one-hundred in Iran.
The Cheetah is now on the CITES endangered species list and due to increasing loss of habitat, declines in prey and high cub mortality rates, its survival is highly doubtful.
